Kendra Harris

Hello! My name is Kendra Harris.  I am a 25 year veteran of the Hamilton County Department of Education.  I have always had a love and passion for inspiring children and teens to be successful.  I received my inspiration from my 2nd grade teacher, Ola Faye Turner and continued support from family and friends.

During my first 12 years, I was a classroom teacher inspiring the minds of young elementary boys and girls.  After receiving a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and receiving further training during PEF's Leadership Fellows Cohort 6, I advanced my career as an elementary assistant principal for 5 years.

In 2011, I moved to secondary middle school for 7 years as a Magnet Facilitator and later as an Ancient Studies history teacher.  I am currently inspiring secondary high school students as a Customized Learning Facilitator at The Howard School.

Outside of school and in my free time, I am active in my church, volunteer for the United Way of Greater Chattanooga, volunteer with the NAACP's ACT-SO Committee, volunteer on HCEA/TEA committees, explore art venues around town, and most of all spend time with awesome family!
