Howard Assistant Principals

Ms. Andrea Short
Greetings!  My name is Andrea Short, and I have the honor of serving as the Assistant Principal at Howard High School.  The 2018-2019 school year will begin my 16th year in education.  After graduating from Mississippi State University (Go Dawgs) with a Biology degree, I began my career as a Biology and Anatomy & Physiology teacher.  My family and I embarked upon a unique experience that relocated us to the Washington, DC area.  I continued my career as an educator, but in the private sector.  After moving back to Mississippi, I continued to serve as a Biology Teacher, Department Chair, Junior sponsor, Prom sponsor and Homecoming sponsor.  Desiring to impact more students, I pursued a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.  After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2012 with a Master's degree in Educational Leadership, I continued my journey as a educational leader, serving as an Assistant Principal at NR Burger Middle School and Petal High School, and as a Principal at LB STEAM Academy.  I am committed to ensuring that quality instruction and learning is taking place in each classroom.  I am also committed to building the relationships that are required to spur motivation, give empowerment, and enhance collegiality.

Dr. Elizabeth Renneisen

My career began at Howard, where for 13 years I taught English 9-12 and helped begin the Advanced Placement Literature program. In 2006 I had the opportunity to move to Tyner Academy to continue teaching English and pilot the in-house Dual Enrollment program with Chattanooga State. In 2008, I finished my Ph.D. at MTSU in English Literature, and in 2010 I became a Nationally Board Certified Teacher. Throughout the past two years I have been an instructional coach, working with teachers in every content area, and helped write the district's ELA curriculum maps. I am thrilled to be back at Howard as an assistant principal, walking the halls where I started my career.
