My name is Nina Deaton and I am the second Future Ready Institute Coordinator at The Howard School.
I was born in Tanzania, East Africa and moved to a small town in Texas as a young child. As a teenager, I moved to Toronto, Canada which is where I got my bachelor’s degree in English Literature. I moved to Chattanooga, TN, fourteen years ago and fell in love with teaching — which is why I got my Masters in Education at UTC in 2010. Since then, I have been teaching students in Hamilton County to explore their educational options and to advocate for themselves.
This is my second year at Howard and I am excited to start my new role by getting to know your students, and to help them explore different career paths in the four Future Ready Institutes.
For hobbies, I like to read, garden, and cook exotic foods while pretending I am a contestant on a competitive cooking show.
