The Institute of Architecture and Construction at The Howard School prepares our students interested in pursuing careers in the Architecture, Construction, and Engineering industries. Students will develop collaboration, problem-solving, and professional skills through the exploration and completion of authentic problems and projects.
The rigorous Institute curriculum provides our students opportunities for hands-on learning and for applying career, leadership, and personal skills in simulated and real-world environments. Students make use of the VW eLab during their experience here at Howard. The VW eLab is a digital fabrication workspace that offers students the opportunity to engage in authentic experiences with 3D printing, laser engraving/cutting, vinyl cutting, CNC routing, microcomputing, and so much more.
Our students are encouraged to demonstrate mastery of knowledge gained by earning appropriate industry certifications including OSHA-10, AutoCAD User, and participating in SkillsUSA competitions. Upon completion of the program, our students will be prepared for advanced coursework at postsecondary institutions, which lead to careers in Architecture, Construction, and Engineering.
